Middle School Honor Choir
In September, 7 choral singers from Tyrrell Middle School were selected to participate in the Middle School Honor Choir for the Connecticut Chapter of the American Choral Director’s Association. These students spent many hours rehearsing after school with Mrs. Jones to prepare for the choir, and on Saturday, October 19th, they participated in the festival and sang in the concert. The choir was composed of one hundred singers from schools across the state. The singers representing Tyrrell Middle School were Hayley Conroy, Elizabeth Lacombe, Jillian Noack, Ava Onofreo, Skylar Romsky, Kaitlynn Styles, and Danielle Teta. The students in the honor choir were conducted by Marcos Carreras, a respected choral educator in the state of Connecticut. The four composers who wrote the songs that the Middle School Honor Choir sang were present at the festival, and the students were able to ask them questions about their creative processes while composing. The composers led some of the rehearsal, allowing the students to see the composition from their eyes. This was an amazing opportunity, and the singers did a wonderful job singing in the Honor Choir, but also representing Tyrrell Middle School and the town of Wolcott.
